Beach to Beacon

Race time: 1:06.41

Another perfect day for this great road race.  Keiko and I joined some 5500 other runners.

My official time of 66 minutes was a personal accomplishment as I spent more time on my golf game than in training for the race!  It also gave me confidence in my plan to walk (at an expected 13.50 minute pace) the Mount Desert Island Marathon on October 15 – in celebration of my 65th birthday.

Here are my 10K mile lap splits:

  • Mile 1 – 10:20.5
  • Mile 2 – 10:43.2
  • Mile 3 – 10:38.4
  • Mile 4 – 11:05.3
  • Mile 5 – 11:03.5
  • Mile 6 – 11:05.0
  • Mile 6.2 – 1:45.9 (“sprint” @ 8:07 minute/mile pace)

Keiko finished in 1:03.56.  She also did not have the time to train but enjoyed the experience.
